The first business is the ‘family business’ regardless if your family is intricially involved with your business or not. The family plays a major role in the success or failure of your business. And, like any other business, you have family business issues.
The family business issues my range from a death in the family, major medical illness, divorce, and personal bankruptcy, just to name a few. How do you handle these issues to help minimize their event on your business?

Here are some great solution-oriented measures you can incorporate in your daily life to minimize and effectively deal with your family business issues:
1. The family that prays together stays together- have the comfort of knowing you can take the issue to a higher source via prayer as a family. What better way to air out your grievances by getting the comfort and support of knowing that you can let go and let God help you solve your problems.
2. Solve the issues as a family-There is strength in numbers. When all of the family comes together, including the extended family, you have the love and support of knowing that people care and are willing to help you with the issue. Like the adage states, “Two heads are better than one”. It will create greater bonds and resources to overcome the issues.
3. Get the bless’in in the lesson- Every so-call crisis has an equal or better opportunity. This family business issue is an opportunity to learn the lesson to get it right this time around. This is not a mistake or failure here. Your business may have failed, but that does not make you a failure. You have just learned what not to do, and now you need to focus on the right thing to do in order to make it work better next time around.
4. Expect a positive outcome- Whatever you pay attention to grows. If you expect that the issue will have a positive result, you will manifest it in your life. Be positive and productive at all times and you will draw to you people, situation and circumstance that will assist in a positive solution. If you expect the best , you will get the best. It is that simple.
We can not immune ourselves of ‘family business issues’, but we can cope better when we have a strategies in place that will help us to handle them well.
In the end, by incorporating these simple techniques, you will be able to do damage control and solve the family business issue in a timely fashion.

Thanks so much for this article, Dr. Elon. This is so right on for me with the current situation of being an only child who broke the “generational curse, ” yet have to reach back to care for my mother who is young, but in need of financial, and physical support due to a recent diagnosis of Stage 3 Colon cancer. She’s 50 years old, African American. Been a lot of strife in our relationship. As you know when you “get out of the box” you can sometimes become an outcast, but thank God for the ability to come to him in prayer and let it go. I do believe that what we put out comes back to us, so I choose unconditional love towards my mother and family.
